WWE Talent To Request Release If Vince McMahon Remains In Power?

WWE Talent To Request Release If Vince McMahon Remains In Power? CNBC

WWE backstage morale took the biggest hit it has taken in over a year last night, when Vince McMahon was the man in charge of last night’s Raw show.

Vince made multiple last minute changes to the show, including after the talent meeting held at 6pm EST by Triple H and Nick Khan telling talent that nothing would change, as well as minutes before Triple H made his way to the ring to cut a promo basically saying the same.

Numerous runsheets were handed to production during the show, including multiple during the first hour of the show.

Needless to say, a lot of the talent in the company, specifically those who Triple H had re-signed after Vince McMahon had let them go, are not happy with McMahon’s return.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), numerous WWE talent were disappointed, believing that this weekend was a way for Vince to wedge himself back into the fold in the company.

One WWE higher up noted that this Friday’s SmackDown show would be a big test and an important day for the company, as Vince was already in Los Angeles for the weekend when last night’s Raw happened, but if he travels to Portland for SmackDown, it would be a huge negative sign to talent and staff regardless of whether he is in the Gorilla Position or not.

There are important people within WWE who had no idea Vince was planning changes last night, and are unaware of his plans for Friday.

Fightful notes that they heard from at least two talent, including one near the top of the card, that said they will likely request their releases if last night’s show is a trend moving forward, with another talent saying they’ll just ride out their current deal.

There are multiple wrestlers already exploring what their options would be in the event that Vince McMahon were to become steadily involved.
