WWE Talent Unhappy That Eric Bischoff Has Not Been At Smackdown Tapings?

Just four days after he was appointed as Executive Director of Raw, Paul Heyman sat side-by-side with Vince McMahon as the pair worked on Raw together backstage. It was even reported that several of the key segments from that week’s show came from Heyman.

On the other hand, former WCW icon Eric Bischoff has not appear backstage at the two tapings of Smackdown since his appointment as the Executive Director of the blue brand.

It was reported that Vince McMahon was “immensely pleased” with Paul Heyman’s work thus far. However, Dave Meltzer is reporting that the same cannot be said for Eric Bischoff.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that while Bischoff’s role in charge of Smackdown does not properly start until after this weekend’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, many backstage are questioning why he has not been at the shows in advance like Heyman:

“There was definitely people asking questions [at SmackDown] about Eric [Bischoff] not being there just figuring that he should make it. Even though he doesn’t start until this week that he should just you know be there a week early. It does make sense to do that, but you know, there you go. I don’t know the decision was why he wouldn’t be there.”

Meltzer then went on to claim that there is a lot of negativity towards Eric Bischoff backstage within the company:

“There’s definitely negativity towards Eric because I’ve seen it, I’ve heard it. I don’t think so much among the wrestlers. I think it’s more among office people. I think that they’re — probably because they’re the ones that can see through Eric whereas the wrestlers are just like, ‘Oh yeah, you know they did that when I was a kid.’ When you were a kid you just don’t realize how badly it was… I guess if you were being run off [as a fan].”

This news comes after Eric Bischoff tweeted earlier on today that he was on his way to Stamford to begin his new role in charge of Smackdown.
