High Hopes For New WWE Signing, Reportedly ‘Doing Great’ WWE

The third wrestling Olympic Gold Medalist to be signed by WWE is reportedly “doing great” in the company since joining in May 2023.

Tamyra Mensah-Stock signed a WWE developmental contract in May of 2023 and joined Kurt Angle and Gable Steveson as Olympic wrestling gold medalists to sign with the company.

The first female Olympic wrestling gold medalist under a WWE contract is already in the history books as she became the first female African-American and the first Black wrestler to win Olympic gold at the Tokyo 2020 event.

Dave Meltzer has provided an update on Mensah-Stock’s progress since joining WWE.

In the current issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer wrote:

“Reports on Olympic gold medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock, who was the actual biggest name recent signing but has not debuted yet, are very strong.

“We’re told she’s doing great and taking to pro wrestling like a fish to water.”

Following news of her signing, she told ESPN that her goal is to be on the main roster within one year.

Mensah-Stock won gold in freestyle wrestling, competing at 68kg.

Fellow wrestling Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson has addressed his passion for amateur wrestling ahead of his in-ring WWE debut.

He will take on Baron Corbin at NXT Great American Bash on July 30, 2023 in Cedar Park, Texas.
