WWE Teases Main Roster Stars Dropping Down To NXT

WWE’s main roster is huge. It’s so huge that a lot of the time you forget some people exist because they’re not on TV for weeks or even months in a row, so to hear that they might be thinking of utilising NXT more is a refreshing idea.

In the past few months, surprise appearances from main roster stars at NXT house shows have become more frequent, with the likes of Tyler Breeze, Luke Harper and Bayley and Sasha Banks all turning up on the yellow and black brand.

While their appearances have been fun, they have seemed on the whole to be one offs, but WWE is now teasing more main roster stars for returns to NXT, and possibly on a more permanent basis.

As you can see from the above tweet, Dana Brooke, Sheamus, Cesaro, Luke Harper and Fandango were all tagged in a tweet asking them what they’re doing on Wednesday nights when NXT airs.

In an interview last year, Triple H spoke about the possibility of more NXT/main roster crossovers, specifically mentioning that main roster stars may be sent back to NXT when they aren’t needed.

“I think you could be at a place where you see main level talent stay at NXT. I think we’re also at the point where you can see some talent on Raw and SmackDown that has had success or not had success or for whatever reason aren’t being utilized, they could go back into NXT. I think you could see a lot of these talent become mainstays in the brand that they’re in — NXT included.”

Prior to his release, Tye Dillinger revealed that he tried to go back to NXT but this was refused, so has his subsequent release made WWE think again about refusing this kind of application?
