WWE
We have now had our first official look at Dwayne The Rock Johnson as Maui in the upcoming live-action Disney Moana movie.
With the live action remake of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 2016 smash hit set for a July 10, 2026 theatrical release, Disney has now shared its first trailer for the project.
The official teaser introduces the world to Catherine Laga’aia, who will be playing the live action version of the titular Moana.
Set to reprise his role is The Rock, who will be playing Maui, the demigod character he voiced in both 2016’s Moana and 2024’s Moana 2.
Maui is only briefly featured in the trailer in his humanoid form, which you can see at 46 seconds into the trailer.
We can only see a shot of the back of Dwayne Johnson as Maui, but it gives us a good idea of the physique he’ll be sporting in the movie.
The Rock notably wore a bodysuit while filming for the role. You can view behind the scenes photos of The Rock on set right here.
