At WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto in March, The Rock made an appearance, and the reason has now been revealed.
The Rock made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, referring to ticket sales for the March 1, 2025, WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto.
That Premium Live Event saw The Rock appear, trying to get Cody Rhodes to ‘sell his soul’ only for John Cena to turn heel.
The Rock’s involvement at WWE Elimination Chamber came after contact from TKO CEO Ari Emanuel, as revealed on the Pat McAfee Show, with The Final Boss saying:
“I got a call about a month before Elimination Chamber from Ari Emanuel. He said, ‘We need help at Elimination Chamber. Ticket sales a little slow. How do we create an Elimination Chamber that people must tune in to see. Will the Final Boss show up?’
“I said ‘I have an idea. The most important thing to the Final Boss isn’t money, titles, fame, been there done that, and grateful for that. The Final Boss wants your soul.
“What that means is whatever dreams Cody Rhodes has, whatever ambitions, you tell the Final Boss, and he makes it all happen. What does the Final Boss get out of that? Your soul for life.'”
The Rock didn’t claim Cody’s soul, however, leading us to WrestleMania 41 where John Cena became the new WWE Champion.
Cena currently has just 27 dates left on his WWE schedule in his retirement year and has promised to continue to “ruin wrestling“.
The Rock was absent from WrestleMania 41 on April 19 & 20, 2025, and discussed his absence during the interview with Pat McAfee.
Noting that he wanted to “step back into the shadows”, The Rock stated the focus needed to be on John Cena and Cody Rhodes.
In January 2024, it was reported that Dwayne Johnson had joined the TKO board of directors and obtained ownership of the trademark for “The Rock”.
