WWE’s The Rock Reacts To Recent Movie Set Leak WWE

With Moana 2 currently in cinemas, filming for the live-action version of the Disney movie starring The Rock is underway.

Very much like the animated movie, Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as the demigod Maui in the live-action set for a July 2026 release.

Recently, we got our first look at The Rock in a bodysuit during filming for the movie which will see Catherine Laga’aia taking on the role of Moana.

Johnson has now reacted to the photo leak in comments made to Extra TV, saying:

“That’s a suit that took a long time to put on. So, I’m so happy you said, ‘You bulked up,’ because when you say, ‘You bulked up,’ that means you couldn’t tell. That is a couple of hours every day of transforming, putting that on.

“We shot outside and when those pictures surfaced, I was like, ‘Sh*t, we got caught, ’cause we were putting up, like, walls so there was no paparazzi. But they got into boats and started shooting pictures. So, but I’m happy you liked it. I can’t wait. The movie comes out in 2026.”

The People’s Champ would also discuss becoming Maui on set for the first time, saying:

“The moment I stepped on set… as live-action Maui, I realized right away, ‘Oh, wow, this is different,’ in terms of this is real flesh-and-blood and skin-and-bones.

“It becomes real all of the sudden. It was almost like getting in my grandfather’s skin and what that was like.”

He described the experience of the live adaptation as “eye-opening”, noting that he has a “handle on who Maui is” and that he can access the voice, the man and his inspiration.

Moana 2 opened this week in cinemas and has, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “record-shattering $13.8 million in Tuesday previews.”

The report goes on to note that this is “the biggest preview number ever for a Walt Disney Animation title and the second-biggest for any animated film behind sister Pixar’s Incredibles 2 ($18.5 million),”
