The Rock Issues With WWE WrestleMania Documentary Rumor Update WWE

WrestleMania 40 took place on April 6 & 7 with a behind-the-scenes documentary covering the road to the event being made.

The WrestleMania XL: Behind the Curtain documentary was advertised after Night One of the two-night Premium Live Event.

April 11 provided an update on the documentary, with it being revealed that it was delayed “due to the sheer amount of footage that [WWE] shot over the course of the weekend.”

A further update would emerge on May 15 stating that the delay was as The Rock had “final approval” on the project, although the accuracy of the claim was in some doubt.

Dave Meltzer has provided a new update in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that stated:

There has been a lot of talk regarding the delay of the behind-the-scenes build to WrestleMania documentary that was originally to air nearly two months ago and still doesn’t have an air date.

There is a reason for the delay and we were told very few know what that reason is.

We were also told the idea it was waiting for Dwayne Johnson’s clearance is not accurate, which had been rumored.

Meltzer didn’t provide any indication as to what the reason for the delay may be or who would be among the “very few” to know what it is.

As previously reported, the documentary focuses on the two-night PLE and specifically around the pivot in the storyline surrounding Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and The Rock.

It was originally scheduled to air on the WWE YouTube channel on April 10, 2024.
