An update has emerged on how WWE will approach the situation if state mandates are issued due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With new variants of the virus being discovered and transmission still a major issue, the likelihood of more restrictions coming into place appears to be rising.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the possibility of WWE returning to the ThunderDome, noting:
“WWE can go back to someplace in Florida. You can always do the Performance Center. The problem is that if you put RAW and SmackDown in front of 300 people again those numbers will crater.”
As per Ringside News, a ‘well placed’ WWE source has said that the company is prepared for ‘all scenarios playing out’, at this juncture. noting that there are a lot of contingency plans currently being discussed. It was indicated that WWE are considering more options than just a return to the ThunderDome.
WWE returned to touring in July, with the episode of SmackDown before the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
We will continue to provide updates on WWE and any mandates issued as they become available.
