WWE
An interesting WWE statistic has emerged on the company’s title reigns, following a number of championships changing hands at SummerSlam.
The list of WWE champions looks significantly different following SummerSlam, new Intercontinental, WWE Women’s, World Heavyweight and US championships crowned at the August 3 premium live event.
Following the US Title changing hands, an interesting stat has emerged on current WWE championship reigns.
As pointed out by Wrestling Stats & Info on Twitter, for the first time in almost five years, every WWE main roster and NXT championship has a titleholder which was crowned this year (2024).
This is the first time this has happened since the end of 2019. LA Knight winning the US Championship ended the streak of years with championship reigns carried over from the previous year.
Logan Paul’s US Championship reign was the last reign that needed to end for this to be the case, as Paul had won the gold at the November 2023 Crown Jewel premium live event.
He dropped the gold to LA Knight at SummerSlam, marking Knight’s first run with the gold.
The multi-year title reigns of Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns and Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER were both notably ended at WrestleMania in April.
The World Heavyweight Championship also changed hands at the biggest party of the summer, with GUNTHER defeating Damian Priest, following an assist from Finn Balor.
Bayley’s WWE Women’s Championship reign was ended by Nia Jax, and Bron Breakker became Intercontinental Champion after pinning Sami Zayn at the August 3 event.
Breakker has promised to give a currently injured star a shot at his Intercontinental Title when that star returns, which you can read more about right here.
