A WWE title change has taken place ahead of tonight’s episode of SmackDown in Seattle, Washington, just over a week away from WrestleMania.
As is often the case, two matches were taped for WWE Speed before SmackDown went on the air tonight.
There were two NXT stars in action, as the first match saw Wes Lee take on Motor City Machine Guns member Alex Shelley.
However, there was another headline the second match in the form of a title change.
Sol Ruca is now the WWE Speed Women’s Champion, as she defeated inaugural champion Candice LeRae.
En route to becoming #1 contender, Ruca scored wins against two more main roster stars in Katana Chance and Michin.
LeRae became the first ever WWE Speed Women’s Champion back on October 4 with a win over IYO SKY, meaning her reign ends at 186 days.
LeRae and her usual tag partner Nia Jax have both been off WWE TV since they lost to Tiffany Stratton and Trish Stratus at Elimination Chamber.
There’s a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 contender gauntlet match on SmackDown tonight, and they aren’t part of that.
