Well fans, if you were hoping to see a big WWE United States Championship match soon you will have to wait. New details have been reported saying a proposed match for the title has been slated for the Royal Rumble.
Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the planned match for the U.S. Title is Riddle vs. Bobby Lashley. This match is currently slated for the Royal Rumble pay per view. Meltzer does, of course, note that plans change every day in WWE.
Riddle has yet to win a title on the WWE main roster. His only title win since signing with the company was the NXT Tag Team Championship which he won with Pete Dunne in February.
Riddle recently began an on-screen partnership with Jeff Hardy. This led to a match with Hardy and the New Day taking on The Hurt Business this week on Raw. Lashley submitted Hardy to win as Riddle looked on from ringside.
Riddle and Lashley both have extensive backgrounds in MMA so a potential match between them could be very interesting.
The Royal Rumble is currently planned to take place on January 31, 2021.
