Former WWE Stars To Retire After Upcoming Match? WWE

The retirements of two former WWE stars have been teased, ahead of the duo competing in an upcoming championship match.

Matt and Jeff Hardy will have another shot at championship gold at TNA Wrestling’s Slammiversary event.

Ryan & Nic Nemeth will defend the TNA Tag Team Championship in a ladder match on July 20, against Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz, AJ Francis & KC Navarro of Fir$t Cla$$, and Matt & Jeff Hardy of the Hardys.

Speaking on his Extreme Life podcast, Matt Hardy noted that he and Jeff Hardy are treating this match as a “do-or-die” situation, noting that it might be time to hang up the boots if they don’t win.

Hinting that retirement could be in the Hardys’ near future, Matt said:

“We have kind of made this a do-or-die situation for myself and Jeff, like if, if myself and Jeff, if we can’t perform as a top-level tag team, if we can’t be the best of the best, and we can’t get in there and hang with the current tag teams that are up and running today, and we don’t win those titles at Slammiversary, maybe it’s time for the Hardys to call it a career.

“So we’re kind of putting a tough stipulation on our match, just for ourselves. We’re putting these expectations on ourselves… It’s going to make us rethink things. It’s going to make us refocus. It’s going to make us get to where we need to get.”

Matt and Jeff Hardy recently returned to WWE, defeating Nathan Frazer and Axiom to retain the TNA Tag Team Championship when they were champions at the March 11 NXT Roadblock event.
