Everyone remember the Wild Card rule from last year? Well, it’s coming back. A version of it anyway. John Pollock of POST Wrestling reported earlier today that WWE is set to announce the beginning of brand crossover tonight on Raw.
The Wild Card rule was a colossal flop last year but it seems WWE will be reintroducing it to help with ratings. WWE has also been unable to utilize its full roster due to the pandemic. Therefore, combining the Raw and SmackDown rosters does make some sense. It will all depend on the execution.
They will also be addressing the status of the Intercontinental Championship this week. Sami Zayn is the current titleholder having won it from Braun Strowman at Elimination Chamber but has not been on SmackDown as of late. It was reported that he missed a week of television after having his wisdom teeth removed but he hasn’t returned to tv.
Zayn was aligned with Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro but it appears they have moved on. Both men joined forces with Baron Corbin recently, which could signal the end of their partnership with Zayn.
