Judging by a tweet from reliable WWE insider WrestleVotes, it seems WWE may well be looking to reintroduce the King of the Ring tournament in the not too distant future:
So, let’s just say WWE wants to name a new “King”…. who would you like it to be?
— WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) August 12, 2019
The last time the tournament was held was back in 2015, and was won by none other than Bad News Barrett. The inaugural edition was held in 1985 and won by Don Muraco.
There have been 19 KotR winners altogether, with Bret Hart the only man to do so twice, a feat he achieved back-to-back in 1991 and 1993.
Of course this hasn’t yet been officially announced by WWE, and at this point is just an implication from the above tweet.
