It appears a WWE star who has been out for several months due to injury could be set to make his comeback soon.
On last night’s May 8 episode of WWE Raw, there was something of a reunion backstage with Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Dexter Lumis and Indi Hartwell of the group known as The Way in NXT.
During the segment, Gargano said:
“Guys look at us! The whole family back together again. And like I was saying, he’s coming back soon, and I think it’s gonna be great.”
There are perhaps two notable things from that, the first being that this isn’t actually the whole family, as Austin Theory was part of The Way in NXT, but obviously he’s moved along to bigger things since then and was drafted to SmackDown.
The other thing is Gargano referring to someone coming else back soon, which is likely implying somebody returning from injury.
While not confirmed, the general assumption is that Gargano was referring to Tommaso Ciampa, his former tag team partner in the team known as DIY.
Ciampa was never a member of The Way, and actually feuded with Gargano at that time.
This seemed to be reflected after Gargano mentioned it as Candice LeRae said she doesn’t think it’s a good idea for (presumably) Ciampa to be involved.
Ciampa has been of action since September 2022 due to hip surgery.
Here’s a recap of what happened on last night’s Raw:
