A WWE tournament has been officially announced for the new Women’s United States Championship.
Earlier today it was reported that WWE were set to begin a tournament to determine the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion on tonight’s SmackDown in Milwaukee, WI (November 15).
A three-way between Candice LeRae, Bayley and B-Fab was also reported to be the first match in said tournament, with no further details given in regards to WWE’s plans.
Shortly after this report this news would be confirmed by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis via a video uploaded to WWE’s Twitter page.
In the video Aldis announced that the Women’s US Title tournament is indeed happening and the three-way between LeRae, Bayley and B-Fab would kick off the proceedings on tonight’s show.
No further details would be given in regards to the tournament, such as whether it will exclusively take place on SmackDown or whether stars from other brands will be involved.
It was recently reported that there had been no talk within WWE regarding the introduction of a Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Monday’s Raw.
We will provide further updates on the Women’s United States Championship tournament as/when they become available.
