WWE Files Trademark On AEW Star’s Old Ring Name WWE/AEW

WWE has filed a trademark on former two-time AEW TNT Champion Adam Copeland’s old ring name of Edge.

After a three-year stint with WWE after his retirement, Edge had his final match in Toronto against Sheamus on an episode of SmackDown in August 2023.

At AEW WrestleDream 2023, Adam Copeland made his debut with the company by helping Darby Allin and Sting against Christian Cage and The Patriarchy.

On November 19, WWE filed a trademark on “Edge.” The trademark description reads:

Wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered through broadcast media including television and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports via an online community portal.

Adam Copeland has not been seen on AEW television since suffering a serious leg injury at Double Or Nothing 2024 during a cage match with Malakai Black.

WWE filing to trademark Edge shouldn’t be taken as a sign that he’ll return to the company as it could purely be for archival purposes.
