WWE Files Trademark For Potentially Returning Event WWE

WWE has filed a new trademark application for a rumored NBC prime-time special that will likely be airing later this year.

It was recently reported that WWE would be bringing back the Saturday Night’s Main Event name with a view to air the show on NBC in December.

Earlier this month, it was also reported that tickets were expected to go on sale this Friday, September 13 although the venue for the taping wasn’t known.

On September 9, 2024, WWE filed a trademark application for the term “SATURDAY NIGHT’S MAIN EVENT” with the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

The filing, under US Serial Number 98741576, listed the application as falling under the Goods and Services category of:

Saturday Night’s Main Event was a series of specials produced by the then-WWF starting in May 1985 and running until October 1992.

It would be revived in March 2006 and would run through to Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVI in July 2008.

AEW has also recently filed a trademark application for a potential new show or event with the term “AEW: SHOCKWAVE” being submitted to the USPTO.

Tony Khan was asked about the trademark application during the AEW All Out post-show media scrum.

WrestleTalk has a tracker for all the trademark applications filed by both AEW and WWE which can be found here.

We will provide updates for both WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event and AEW: Shockwave as they emerge.
