As the new WWE tryout approaches, a former champion has now shared a message to those set to attend this week.
The names of the independent wrestling stars set to attend this week’s WWE tryouts have been trickling out, with Starboy Charlie among them.
Former WWE Tag Team Champion Darren Young, now known by his real name of Fred Rosser, has sent a message of support the independent stars ahead of the tryouts.
In a post shared on Twitter, Rosser shared details of his own tryout which led to a contract signing, stating:
“I hate to sound like an old timer, but I can’t stress enough how fortunate today’s men and women are to have opportunities with @WWE.
“Back in my day, I paid $1,000 for a four-day tryout, beat out 75 men and women from all over the world, and earned my WWE contract May 4th 2009.
“Make the most of it, and good luck to you all.”
One half of the Prime Time Players, Young would capture the WWE Tag Team Championship with Titus O’Neil at Money in the Bank in 2016.
His time in WWE would come to an end with his release in October 2017, having suffered an arm injury earlier that year.
Rosser is currently signed with NJPW, with the former Strong Openweight Champion working as both an in-ring talent and a trainer at the NJPW Academy.
