A WWE Raw star has spoken of the company’s ongoing SummerSlam talent tryouts in Detroit, saying that she was not fond of some of the attitudes of the wannabe stars taking part.
As detailed in a piece by The Messenger’s Daniel Trainor documenting the tryouts – which are held for WWE to scout their next Performance Center recruits, often comprised of athletes with backgrounds outside of wrestling – Raw’s Zoey Stark was present at the invite-only event, alongside other WWE stars Grayson Waller, and NXT’s Trick Williams, Lash Legend and Kelani Jordan.
While discussing the WWE hopefuls’ promos, Stark revealed that some of them irked her personally, specifically regarding WWE being ‘an’ option instead of ‘the’ option.
Stark said:
“That’s such a pet peeve of mine (making WWE out to be just another option).
“I wanted to stand up and say, why the hell are you here then? Go back on the football field if that makes you happy.
“That’s fine. I have people who would kill to be in your very position and that’s a slap in the face.”
WWE’s focus on moulding athletes with little to no wrestling experience has produced numerous success stories thus far.
Despite rising the WWE ranks in NXT alongside many with less experience than her, Stark did in fact have a solid resumé prior to WWE, competing in IMPACT and Shimmer among other promotions.
Also at the tryouts are Matt Bloom and William Regal.
