Top UFC Star Says WWE Is His ‘Retirement Plan’

Top UFC Star Says WWE Is His ‘Retirement Plan’ WWE/ UFC

Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall has teased a WWE move for after he retires from MMA.

With Aspinall previously attending the October 16, 2024 WWE house show in Manchester, England, there has been some speculation about the UFC star competing in a WWE ring.

During an interview with The Schmo, Aspinall noted that appearing for WWE is part of his retirement plan for when he finishes up in MMA for good.

Hopeful for an alliance with Cody Rhodes, Aspinall said:

“That’s for when I’ve retired, that’s my retirement plan. Cody Rhodes is my guy. Me and Cody, we’ll have a match one day. I think we might team up, me and Cody Rhodes because we’re both babyfaces, aren’t we?”

Pitching an interesting WWE tag-team match, Aspinall continued:

“Maybe we could fight Jon Jones and whoever the heel is over there. Who’s the main heel, John Cena just turned heel. Cody Rhodes and Tom Aspinall tag team versus Jon Jones and John Cena, baby faces versus heels. Big matchup.”

Fans (and Tom Aspinall) have been calling for a Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight to determine the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion.

Jones is the official UFC Heavyweight Champion, winning the gold in March 2023. Aspinall became the interim champion in November 2023, during Jon Jones’ injury hiatus.

WWE and UFC both operate under the company TKO Group Holdings, which was formed by Endeavor.
