The Undertaker Wants WWE In-Ring Return ‘So Bad’ WWE

The Undertaker may have retired from the ring, but he’s still been present at WWE events, including January’s Royal Rumble.

The WWE Hall of Famer has previously revealed that there will not be “one more match” although it is something he has considered.

It’s something that clearly still lives on in the back of his mind, though, leading him to leave the 2024 Royal Rumble quite early.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, The Undertaker revealed why he chose to leave after the first match, saying:

“I struggle. I’ve struggled since I’ve retired being at live events. I was at the Rumble [this year] because I had a 1deadMan show in Clearwater.

“I stayed over and I was at the Rumble and by the time the first match had gone out, I’d left. Because internally, my mind is saying ‘You should be getting ready. You should be going out there.’

“I wouldn’t say anxiety, but I just get this feeling that I can’t take it.”

He would go on to reveal why he won’t wrestle again, despite there being part of him that would like to, stating:

“I want to be out there so bad. I want to continue to wrestle. Obviously, my body broke down and father time is undefeated. And I never wanted to be a parody of myself and I really risked that at the end…

“Like the match I had with Goldberg in Saudi Arabia. I should have picked up on the fact that he’d had his bell rung. I should’ve been sharp enough to adapt and not try to get to where I was getting.”

The Undertaker retired from in-ring competition in June 2020, confirming the news in November of that year at Survivor Series, as can be seen below this news story.

He would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2022 and inducted Mohammed Ali as part of the Class of 2024.

To date, his last in-ring appearance was at WrestleMania 40 where he chokeslammed The Rock in a moment he feels provided “closure“.
