A WWE Hall of Famer has criticized the upcoming WWE Unreal documentary series, believing that it will do a lot of damage to the product.
WWE is preparing to release a unique docuseries, with the series focusing on the company’s writer’s room set to drop on Netflix on July 29.
With marketing noting that fans will get to see what happens in the writer’s room for the first time ever, the release of this series has divided fans, with many curious about the show, and others questioning whether it’s a good idea for the curtain to be peeled back.
Speaking on his “The Snake Pit” podcast, Jake Roberts called the show foolish. Worried about the damage it’ll do, he said:
“I think it’s foolish. I don’t think that product will ever warrant enough money being made for the damage that it’ll do. So that’s just my own thoughts.”
Netflix previously shared the following about the show:
WWE on Netflix is just getting started. Enter WWE: Unreal, a new series premiering with five episodes on July 29. For the first time ever, step into the WWE writer’s room and outside the ring with your favorite WWE Superstars, where the drama is just as intense offstage as it is under the spotlight.
WWE: Unreal is part of Netflix’s rapidly growing partnership with WWE — one that kicked off in a major way in January 2025 with Raw, streaming live on Netflix on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
