WWE Provides Update On Announcer’s Status After New Job Announced WWE

WWE has now provided an update on the status of Raw announcer Kevin Patrick after he scored a new soccer commentating gig.

Patrick, real name Kevin Egan, was announced as a play-by-play announcer for the upcoming MLS season on MLS Season Pass.

The season kicks off on February 25 and the MLS Season Pass will be broadcast on Apple TV.

On Patrick, the official MLS website writes:

Kevin Egan, originally from Dublin, Ireland, has spent the last 10 seasons broadcasting MLS matches on television with both the Chicago Fire and Atlanta United. During this time Egan also acted as a play-by-play commentator and studio host for beIN Sports, Turner Sports, ESPN and CNN International.

Naturally, the announcement led to questions as to whether this would affect Patrick’s position calling WWE Raw alongside Corey Graves – a question WWE has now answered.

WWE.com writes:

It was announced yesterday by MLS and Apple that Kevin Patrick will be joining their ranks as a play-by-play announcer for the upcoming MLS season to be broadcast on MLS Season Pass. The MLS Season Pass subscription service launches Feb. 1 on the Apple TV app in more than 100 countries and regions.

Patrick, the lead announcer for Monday Night Raw will continue his duties on the red brand in addition to his additional role with MLS.

So, in summary, WWE has confirmed that Patrick’s role on Raw is NOT affected by his new role on the MLS Season Pass team.
