This week on NXT, the show kicked off with a cracking singles match between Dakota Kai and Rhea Ripley. Kai picked up the win, advancing to NXT TakeOver: XXX to face Women’s Champion Io Shirai.
Kai picked up the win after interference from Mercedes Martinez. It seems like NXT is building towards Ripley and Martinez at TakeOver, which will also likely be a brilliant match-up.
In the last on this week’s show, Ripley landed face-first onto Dakota Kai’s shin, a spot that saw her suffered a busted nose. WWE has since posted a video of the injury onto YouTube.
In the video, Ripley also talks about the disappointment she feels at not earning a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship at Io Shirai at NXT TakeOver: XXX in just under two weeks time.
