Vince McMahon was backstage at WWE Raw, occupying the Gorilla Position and making changes to the Hartford, Connecticut show.
As previously reported, McMahon’s presence on the June 5 episode of WWE Raw was said to be far less hectic than the Raw after Mania, without any notable stories pouring out of Hartford.
McMahon did reportedly “change a significant part of the show” a couple of hours before it began.
Details of the backstage reaction to Vince McMahon’s presence have now been revealed by PW Insider.
According to their sources, McMahon didn’t run the taping from Gorilla but did “re-work” the broadcast and change the match order to “fit his vision”.
It wasn’t felt to be “overtly stressful or over-the-top” according to PW Insider.
The report goes on to say that ” there wasn’t as much resentment or anger from talents that we are aware of.”
One talent is reported to have said:
“The band-air has already been ripped off.”
There is also “an unspoken understanding that McMahon is back on the throne”.
While he may not be at every show, it is “well known by everyone that he’s back in charge and his decrees will be met.”
It was also reported that “many of the backstage segments” that were presented as if they were being broadcast “live” were actually shot 20-40 before they were broadcast.
With the show being reworked, some segments were “taped a little later” than usual.
It was previously reported that people are still “on guard” about the potential of McMahon reappearing backstage on a consistent basis.
