WWE Wants The Rock For SmackDown Live FOX Debut

Well duhh. It is being reported that WWE has reached out to The Rock in the hopes that he will agree to appear on their debut SmackDown Live show on FOX in October.

It has previously been reported that WWE is trying to get as many stars as possible to attend the show to get it off to a high ratings start, but as The Rock is arguably the biggest star in the company’s history, he’ll be top of the list.

This report comes from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which pointed out that given AEW will start weekly TV in October, WWE is pulling out all the stops to make SmackDown seem like the big leagues.

There has been no word on whether he has accepted the offer, but he does do the odd cameo for big events so there’s no reason to believe he wouldn’t show up for a promo or to hit a single Rock Bottom.

The issue with the Rock has often been insurance. As he’s now a movie star, there is always a risk that he could get injured in the WWE ring and therefore it’s not worth the cost.

He was recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Florida, but this was reportedly just in order to rehab an injury.
