WWE Women Not Happy With New Backstage Hire

It’s being reported that women working in WWE aren’t happy with a recent backstage hire that was made a number of days ago.

Earlier this week, WWE announced the appointment of Jamie Horowitz as Executive Vice President of Development & Digital, and according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this “led to at least some ire from women working in WWE”.

This stems from Horowitz having been fired by FOX Sports in 2017 after allegations of sexual harrassment had been made against him.

When Horowitz was fired, Erik Shanks, the FOX Sports President, sent the following message out to staff:

“Everyone at FOX Sports, no matter what role we play, or what business, function or show we contribute to – should act with respect and adhere to professional conduct at all times. These values are non-negotiable.”

After the allegations were made – which reportedly included a female production assistant alleging that he had tried to kiss her and said if she agreed he could get her more work – Horowitz’s attorney said:

“The way Jamie has been treated by FOX is appalling. At no point in his tenure was there any mention by his superiors or human resources of any misconduct or an inability to adhere to professional conduct. Jamie was hired by FOX to do a job that until today he was performing in exemplary fashion. Any slanderous accusations to the contrary will be vigorously defended.”

FOX’s lawyer, the well-known and highly regarded Daniel Petrocelli, then said:

“Mr. Horowitz’s termination was fully warranted and his lawyer’s accusations are ill-informed and misguided.”

Horowitz being brought in is just one of the many, many recent changes we’ve seen under the leadership of Nick Khan and his vision to turn WWE into the next Marvel.
