The announcement of a battle royal at Evolution has been expected for some time. After all, how else could WWE get 50 members of its women’s roster on the show as they promised when the event was first announced?
What came as a surprise was some of the names involved.
Several members of the roster who were likely expecting to be competing in singles, tag or multi-women matches have found themselves entered into this throwaway contest, including former SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella, WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal winner Naomi and Royal Rumble winner Asuka.
Several of the women in the match (all from SmackDown) took it upon themselves to respond to the announcement on Twitter with memes of them rolling their eyes and pulling surprised faces, which was clearly a pact made by the SmackDown clan designed to express their disappointment.
Carmella tweeted this video of her looking shocked and surprised:

Naomi responded with a picture of herself looking baffled.

She later added: “Sooooo when I win this historic battle royal, like I did at WrestleMania, will I get two championship opportunities? Because y’all never shipped my trophy nor did I get a title opportunity”
Lana’s reaction was similar:

As was Peyton Royce’s:

And her IIconics parter Billie Kay:

Mandy Rose was not subtle either:

In fact, the only person that took the announcement well was Torrie Wilson, who shared a video of herself eating dinner while watching the reveal of her name and then immediately jumping into a work out:
Evolution Bound! Good thing my mantra year round is BEAST MODE. 😜💪🏽 #Evolution #WWE #EvolutionBound #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/RMOydvigyK

Typically, WWE does not take too kindly to members of the roster speaking out against the promotion, so it will be interesting to see whether any action is taken against the guilty parties for going against the company grain.
