At Hell in a Cell this past Sunday, Becky Lynch finally stepped into the spotlight and managed to win the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship from former bestie Charlotte Flair. The match was solid and ended with Lynch refusing to have her hand raised by the ‘Queen’ and walking away with her head held high.
With her long-awaited win now in the books, Becky Lynch has received her new custom side plates for the title. The plates were revealed on the promotion’s YouTube channel as seen below:
Those who watched the post-HIAC epsiode of SmackDown Live to the end will have seen the ‘Irish Lasskicker’ sporting the plates on her new title when she was coronated in the middle of the ring during the main event. Of course, this being wrestling where championship coronations are more volatile than soap opera weddings, Lynch called out the former champ, finally ready to let Flair raise her hand in victory.
Flair, trying her hardest to remain a babyface despite the crowd blatantly in full support behind Lynch, joined the new champ in the ring and attempted to offer her congratulations once again with a pinch of salt. Big ‘Becky Balboa’ wasn’t best pleased, however, telling the seven-time Women’s Champion to call her “Queen.”
As you could guess, Charlotte lost her temper after Lynch got to swear at her again and attacked the new Women’s Champion. ‘Becky 3:16’, however, quickly turned the tables (quite literally) and left her new nemesis down for the count. Don’t worry though, Flair was fine for her Mixed Match Challenge bout around 30 minutes later.
