WWE is currently planning on holding another Worlds Collide event on Saturday 25 January 2020, the night before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
This is traditionally the night that an event NXT TakeOver event would take place, as has been the case for the last few years.
While announcing their Travel Package for Royal Rumble 2020, WWE has failed to mention the normal NXT TakeOver event that would take place the night before the pay-per-view, suggesting a change in schedule.
WWE could obviously change the travel package, as there is currently also no mention of a Raw or Smackdown TV taping across the Royal Rumble weekend.
It was previously reported that because of NXT’s move to the USA Network, WWE higher-ups were considering adding a sixth NXT TakeOver event in 2020.
However, this was proving tough due to scheduling. Perhaps the company has decided to alter the schedule of these special events to make sure more can be fitted in throughout the year.
Others have speculated that WWE could opt to have NXT TakeOver shows serve as standalone events rather than having them attached to a main roster pay-per-view, as they are the majority of the time.
