It’s being reported that rising COVID-19 cases in the US are leading WWE to be worried that SummerSlam may have to be cancelled.
According to Bodyslam.net, the company is anticipating a return to the Performance Center or another venue for the ThunderDome “within a couple of weeks”.
The report states that the feeling within WWE is that the company “fully expects” it won’t be on the road in four weeks’ time.
There is said to be specific concern about “how they will be able to proceed in a non-contained environment”.
The expectation in WWE is reportedly that there won’t be another round of lockdowns, but mass gatherings are likely to be banned.
Both WWE and AEW have been working on contingency plans in preparation for this potentially happening.
As of right now, the Allegiant Stadium and Ticketmaster both state anyone attending SummerSlam must wear a mask.
