WrestleMania 37 is scheduled for the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on March 28, 2021, but that might have to change.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has said that large gatherings and events may not be authorized until over a year, which puts ‘Mania 37 taking place there at risk.
Via Deadline, the mayor said:
“It’s difficult to imagine us getting together in the thousands anytime soon. We’ve got many, many miles to walk before we’re going to be back in those environments.
“Large gatherings such as concerts and sporting events may not be approved in the city for at least 1 year.”
The stadium is still currently being constructed despite the pandemic, and was scheduled to launch officially in July.
That almost definitely won’t be happening, but the construction is continuing despite two of the on-site workers having tested positive for COVID-19, according to FOX11. The construction company is supposedly taking necessary measures, such as health checks and social distancing, to ensure the work is done safely.
Obviously, as of right now, everything is on a play-it-by-ear basis, and we don’t even know what the situation will be like come tomorrow never mind next year.
With that said, WrestleTalk.com will of course continue to provide updates on the coronavirus and how it is affecting the wrestling world.
