NXT commentator Booker T has argued that WWE missed a big opportunity with Omos vs Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 39.
The two heavyweight stars clashed in the opening match of WrestleMania 39 Sunday. While Omos was able to impressively throw Lesnar around, The Beast ultimately defeated the rising star in just under five minutes.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T argued that WWE had the opportunity to make Omos the ‘ultimate giant’:
“To have someone like Brock Lesnar to help him (Omos) grow, I thought that could’ve been a good thing but obviously they’ve got other plans, with Brock, you know, doing the thing with Cody Rhodes.
“Maybe Brock and Cody look like they’re gonna mix it up. Cody may have to go through Brock to go to the next level — I get it.
“But I did think that was a moment that we could’ve really made Omos the ‘ultimate giant.’ Yeah, I think we missed the moment.”
On the April 3 edition of Raw, Brock Lesnar attacked Cody Rhodes during the ring introductions for their tag match against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa.
Details on how long WWE has had plans for a Rhodes vs Lesnar rivalry for were recently revealed.
