With WrestleMania 39 just over a week away, more details of the match order and Night 1 main event have been revealed.
With Cody Rhodes having previously set his sights on facing Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on Night 2, Dave Meltzer has now revealed the line up, as it currently stands, for the night premium live event.
Writing in the new issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Meltzer states:
“Right now day one is scheduled to be headlined by Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley for the Smackdown women’s title.
“Logan Paul vs. Seth Rollins is also on that show.
“There has been talk of Edge vs. Finn Balor in the Hell in a Cell match on that show, but that one isn’t official, and one would think the Usos vs. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens for the tag titles would be on that show.
“The latter match has been listed for day one dating back to November.”
With the first evening of WrestleMania 39 covered, Meltzer would move onto April 2, writing:
“Day two will be headlined by Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Universal title, which is the biggest match of the weekend.
“The belief is also that Gunther vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus for the IC title, Lita & Trish Stratus & Becky Lynch vs. Bayley & Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky, Rey vs. Dominik (If the angle is shot on day one, if not the match could be on day one) and Bianca Belair vs. Asuka for the Raw women’s title would be on the show.”
Meltzer would also provide an update on Ronda Rousey’s status for WrestleMania 39.
