WrestleMania 41 Main Events To End Six Year WWE Streak?

With WWE announcing the first main event for WrestleMania 41, a six-year streak could be set to come to an end at the Show of Shows.

As was confirmed on the March 28 SmackDown episode, CM Punk vs Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns will close the show on one of the nights of WrestleMania 41.

While it wasn’t specified whether this match will headline the April 19 or 20 show, it has been heavily speculated that it will be Saturday’s main event.

This is because the general assumption has been that Cody Rhodes vs John Cena would be the night two main event, but that hasn’t actually been made official at the time of writing.

If this WWE Championship match does headline the other night of WrestleMania 41 as many are expecting it to, this year will be the first since 2018 where a Royal Rumble winner hasn’t headlined WrestleMania.

Charlotte Flair and Jey Uso were the two 2025 Rumble winners, with Flair choosing to challenge for Tiffany Stratton’s WWE Women’s Championship, and Jey Uso set to challenge World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.

WrestleMania 34 in 2018 was headlined by Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns, with Royal Rumble winners Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka losing their respective title matches further down the card.

2019 Rumble winner Becky Lynch headlined WrestleMania 39 against Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey in their Raw and SmackDown Women’s Title Winner Takes All match.

WrestleMania 36 Night 2 ended with 2020 Rumble winner Drew McIntyre dethroning Brock Lesnar, while 2021 winners Bianca Belair and Edge headlined nights one and two of WrestleMania 37 respectively.

Brock Lesnar – who won the 2022 Rumble – faced Roman Reigns in a WWE Undisputed Universal Title unification match at WrestleMania 38, with WrestleMania 39 ending with Roman Reigns controversially retaining this title in his match against 2023 Rumble victor Cody Rhodes.

Finally, back-to-back Rumble winner Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 to become WWE Champion.
