Creative pitches have reportedly been made for the World Heavyweight Championship match at WWE WrestleMania 41.
With the Royal Rumble less than a month away, reports are circulating regarding what matches WWE may have planned for the Grandest Stage of Them All on April 19 and 20.
While much of the talk has focused on Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and the status of potential matches against The Rock or John Cena, PWInsider Elite (via WrestleZone) has now shed light on the WWE’s plans for GUNTHER’s World Heavyweight Championship in Las Vegas.
According to the report a match between The Ring General and WWE Raw’s newest signee Logan Paul have been pitched as the World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania 41.
While it is noted that it is still “very early” in the planning stages for WrestleMania, it is a match that has been pushed internally within creative circles in WWE.
Despite plans reportedly still being up in the air, a match between GUNTHER and Paul was something seemingly teased at the WWE Raw on Netflix Kick0ff event in Stamford, CT on December 18.
Following his reveal as a new Raw star Paul made it clear that he was coming for the World Heavyweight Championship, with GUNTHER later responding to The Maverick by saying he’d “slap the stupid smirk” of Paul’s face.
Neither Paul or GUNTHER competed at the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere in Los Angeles on January 6, with Paul instead being given a new video package hyping his apparent full-time commitment to WWE, before being shown sitting in the front row at the Intuit Dome afterwards.
GUNTHER would not be seen in person at Raw’s Netflix debut, but did receive a new video package, with his last championship defence coming against Damian Priest and Finn Balor at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14.
We will provide further updates on future WrestleMania 41 plans as more information becomes available.
