A potential change could be coming to the championship picture heading into WWE WrestleMania 42 this coming April.
On the women’s side of the roster, Liv Morgan won the Royal Rumble match this past Saturday, guaranteeing herself a WrestleMania title shot.
Morgan now has the choice of which title she wants to compete for at Mania – the Women’s World Championship currently held by Stephanie Vaquer, or the WWE Women’s Championship held by Jade Cargill.
However, there may be a change to things before we even get to WrestleMania.
Tonight on WWE SmackDown, Morgan and Judgment Day partner Raquel Rodriguez appeared as Morgan was intending to scout Cargill.
However, things turned into a tag team match with Morgan and Rodriguez teaming up against Cargill and her recent rival Jordynne Grace.
Grace scored the pin and won the match, but later backstage, Nick Aldis made an announcement for next week.
Grace will challenge Cargill for the WWE Women’s Title next week on SmackDown.
This will mark Cargill’s first defense of the championship since she won it back on November 1.
As Morgan has yet to decide which champion she’s facing at Mania, it could be that she ends up having a choice between Vaquer and Grace instead of Vaquer and Cargill.
