Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James has teased returning to the ring to face a notable current NXT star.
While James hasn’t wrestled for WWE since the 2022 Royal Rumble, the wrestling veteran has appeared backstage and in WWE crowds at several shows recently.
James has now shared an interesting response to former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez naming her as one of her dream WrestleMania opponents.
Speaking with No Contest Wrestling, Perez named AJ Lee, Lita, Trish Stratus, Chyna and Mickie James as her dream opponents, pointing out that matches against Stratus and James are actually possible in 2025.
James took to Twitter to respond to Perez’ comments, writing:
You gonna make me dust off my working boots @roxanne_wwe 🤠

James hasn’t wrestled since September 2024, most recently competing for IWR at the September 12 show.
Trish Stratus notably made her in-ring return in the 2025 Royal Rumble match, which Roxanne Perez had an iron-woman performance in.
An update has emerged on a big change potentially set for the planned WWE Championship match set for WrestleMania 41, which you can read more about right here.
