It was reported just before SmackDown last week that Vince McMahon had ordered for a complete rewrite of the script for Friday’s show, a story that you can read more about by clicking here.
Following on from the show, it was reported by various sites that Chelsea Green was set to win the women’s four-way match prior to her injury. However, other sites reported that it was always set to be Liv Morgan.
The reason for this confusion may be revealed, as Dave Meltzer noted on the Wrestling Observer Radio that due to the rewriters, there were two scripts going around between the writers for SmackDown:
“In the original script Liv Morgan was going over, but then on Thursday night/Friday morning Vince tore up the whole script and re-wrote the show with Prichard I guess. So, all of the writers and producers had the old script, so literally nobody knew the show.”
While there may have been major rewrites, last week’s SmackDown show was still received pretty well by fans, with the segments involving Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and Drew McIntyre being particularly great.
