WWE’s Current Plan For Tag Team Title Unification Match

WWE’s Current Plan For Tag Team Title Unification Match WWE

For several weeks, fans thought they would be getting a very exciting tag title unification match at WrestleMania Backlash, but at the last minute, WWE announced it would be a six-man tag, and the belts would not be on the line.

Yes, the RK-Bro & Drew McIntyre vs. The Bloodline match was very fun, but RK-Bro vs. The Usos would have been so much more meaningful in terms of pure storytelling.

As reported by Dave Meltzer last week, WWE never actually planned on having the match at WrestleMania Backlash, with the six-man always being the plan, but it seems that there will still be a tag unification match at some point…sort of.

Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained WWE is planning on holding the match, but that the championships will not actually be unified. He said:

“So this is what I was told on this. They are going to do the match, but as of right now, and also this can change, but they are not planning on actually unifying the titles, but they are planning on doing the match.”

So it sounds like Dave is suggesting the match will take place, but there will be some kind of DQ or non-finish. I will make it clear this is what I am interpreting from Meltzer’s words, and not what he actually said.

Without seeing the match, we can’t be sure, but I wouldn’t imagine a non-finish for such a big match will be very well received by fans.

If we hear anything else, we will of course let you know.
