WrestleMania 36 was the first time in WWE history that the promotion had held a two-night WrestleMania show.
While the show didn’t have any fans in attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the following year’s WrestleMania 37 show did have fans, and was also held over two nights.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Sunday Night’s Main Event Podcast, the plan is for WrestleMania to always be two nights from now on. He said:
“I talked to people there and they certainly gave me the impression that the idea is 2 days going forward. They always can change their mind based on what happens. I think that they all thought that 7-hour show just doesn’t work. That’s more tiring than the 2 days.”
This year’s WrestleMania 38 show is on April 2 and 3, with night one likely being main-evented by either Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey, or Stone Cold Steve Austin’s appearance on the KO show. Night two’s main event will be Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar in a winner takes all championship match for the WWE and Universal Championship.
