At Crown Jewel last month, Lacey Evans and Natalya went one-on-one in what was the first women’s wrestling match in Saudi Arabia.
Prior to this, women had been pretty much left off of WWE’s three prior shows in the Middle Eastern country.
Regardless of WWE’s intentions and motives with the match, you couldn’t help but smile when you saw women and young children in the audience embracing the women’s match.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, we will likely have one women’s match at every Saudi Arabia show moving forward:
They will no doubt have at least one [women’s] match at every show, but whether they would bring an entire crew, like they did with the men, is an unknown.
Do not expect to see Evolution II take place in Saudi Arabia, but seeing one women’s match at every show in the country is definitely progress.
