The New Day’s Xavier Woods says “sometimes brothers fight” amid WWE split rumours for the tag team.
Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E of The New Day have cemented themselves as one of the greatest tag teams and stables in WWE history.
The group is set to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of The New Day on a special episode of Monday Night Raw.
However, things have not been good between Woods and Kingston over the past few months due to a chain of big losses.
Speaking with TV Insider, Xavier Woods addressed the recent dissension for The New Day ahead of their 10 year anniversary. He said:
“Sometimes brothers fight. Family fights. It’s just crazy that it has taken this long to start having a disagreement.”
“Normally, with your friends, there are things that would come up. We had so much time with no real tension. It has been very interesting. Obviously, when you see it on TV, you think everything is imploding.”
“That’s what you’re used to seeing in wrestling. It’s not how life is. I could argue with my brother. He can disagree with me, and we can talk about it.”
Explaining how he and Kingston have talked through their issues, Woods said:
“We’re mature adults living in 2024. If I can’t text him or call him and have a genuine conversation about a disagreement, then how strong is our friendship in the first place?”
“It has always been in wrestling where someone gets jealous or someone accidentally hits someone and we’re fighting. The next thing you know I’m making someone bleed in the streets.”
“If that happened, were we really genuine friends? What you’re seeing now is just a maturation of our brotherhood.”
WWE has yet to announce when the 10 year anniversary of The New Day episode of Raw will be at the time of this writing.
The New Day recently shared some criticism of their debut ring gear in an interview, which you can read at this link here.
