New Young Bucks Title Match Announced During AEW Absence

New Young Bucks Title Match Announced During AEW Absence AEW

The Young Bucks haven’t been seen in the AEW ring since losing the World Tag Team Championships in October 2024.

While Matthew & Nicholas Jackson may not have been seen in AEW since their loss to Private Party (as can be seen below), they have had their return match in NJPW.

The January 5 NJPW Wrestle Dynasty saw the pair become IWGP Tag Team Championships once again, beating Los Ingobernables de Japon (Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito) and United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb).

Their next match has now been confirmed and it is, once again, in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

At the February 11 NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka, The Young Bucks will take on Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi with the IWGP Tag Team Championship once again on the line.

In the official announcement for the match, the NJPW website revealed:

The IWGP Tag Team Championships are on the line when Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi face the Young Bucks, Nicholas and Matthew Jackson. AEW EVPs the Bucks were victorious in a tumultuous three way tag team match at Wrestle Dynasty to become the 106th champions, and to win the title for a second time.

Still ‘working from home’ since their last appearance on AEW television, the Jacksons stated that they would be happy to put their belts on the line back in Japan, and that they always enjoyed wrestling in Osaka. After a win over Funky Sauce in Ota at new Year Dash, Hiromu and Naito, not pinned in the Tokyo Dome, asked to be the Bucks’ opposition. What happens when the World Tag League 2024 winners get their two on two shot?

The Young Bucks previously held the IWGP Tag Team Championships  in June 2018, losing the titles to Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa, both now signed with WWE).

Nicholas Jackson has recently revealed that AEW owner Tony Khan wasn’t initially sold on Orange Cassidy.

The Young Bucks recently reflected on the anniversary of the original AEW announcement in January 2019.
