Young Rock Premiere Gains Impressive Viewership

The Rock’s latest project, Young Rock, had a successful TV premiere, with millions of people tuning in to view the first episode.

Young Rock, the autobiographical sitcom about Dwayne Johnson, premiered on NBC last night. The show received an impressive viewership, with over 5 million people watching The Rock’s life sitcom.

According to Show Buzz Daily, 5.034 million people tuned in to watch the first episode of Young Rock. This is over twice the viewership of the February 12 episode of Smackdown, which drew a rating of 1.883 million viewers.

In the 18-49 demographic, Young Rock got a 0.9 rating. The show got a 0.4 rating in the 18-34 group, and 1.4 in the 25-54 demographic. The show got 6 across the board for men’s 18-49, women’s 18-49, and the 50+ demographics.

This is an impressive viewership figure. Whilst this was only the first episode of Young Rock, over 5 million viewers is a lot more that either Raw or Smackdown receive on a weekly basis.

This indicates that the majority of Young Rock viewers either recognise Johnson from his work outside of WWE, or are lapsed fans. With The Rock himself mentioning that the show will go backstage during a “pre-wrestling boom WWE“, it will be interesting to see how the viewership changes over time.

Young Rock puts a comedic spin on the childhood of The Rock. The highest paid actor in Hollywood, The Rock was last seen in WWE celebrating with Becky Lynch during Smackdown’s 20th Anniversary show.
