During Brock Lesnar’s original WWE run, the Next Big Thing famously assaulted a one-legged wrestler named Zach Gowen, which ended up with Lesnar pushing Gowen down a flight of stairs while he was in a wheelchair.
The segment has gone on to be famous in the wrestling world, but it apparently was not the original plan for Lesnar’s segment that night.
Gowen himself took to Twitter today (April 22), responding to a tweet from McDonald’s of all things, where he asked for the ‘SmackDown Fist’ to be brought back.
Gowen then revealed that the original plan for the segment would have seen Lesnar F5 Zach Gowen off of the fist through the stage, but practicality led to the segment being changed.
He said:
Fun fact: The original plan was for Brock to F5 off the FIST through the stage but we couldn’t come up with HOW we would get up there. That plan evolved into him throwing me down the stairs in a wheelchair
