Zoey Stark Worked As Backstage Producer While Out With Injury WWE

WWE NXT star Zoey Stark has revealed that she worked as a backstage producer while out recovering from her injury.

Stark underwent surgery for an MCL/meniscus injury in November 2021. She returned to the ring on the July 19 edition of NXT 2.0, winning a 20 woman battle royal to earn a shot at the NXT Women’s Title.

Speaking on WWE After The Bell, Stark confirmed that while she was recovering from the surgery, she took on a producing role.

When asked what influenced her decision to take the role, Stark said:

When asked why she took the role, Stark said, “To become a better performer, number one. I knew I was going to come back and I knew producing is going to help me inside the ring. When you coach somebody, two people are learning. I’m learning at the same time because now I’m having to think about it. It’s amazing to be able to do both sides. You get a different side of, ‘Oh, this is what producers go through, I had no idea.'”

“People want to go off and do their own thing and it throws off the producer, it throws off the camera guys, it throws off everyone.

“You have to be in full communication with everyone. We’re all a team in this. You can’t just go rogue and do your own thing. We need to help each other. We all have the same goal. We all want to have a great match and tell a story.”

Stark will challenge for Mandy Rose’s NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Heatwave on August 16.

Here’s the announced card for the special episode:

  • Bron Breakker (c) vs. JD McDonagh – NXT Championship
  • Mandy Rose (c) vs. Zoey Stark – NXT Women’s Championship
  • Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Giovanni Vinci  – North American Championship
