WOW Season 2 Episode 4 Review

WOW Season 2 Episode 4 Review

Here is this week’s review of WOW Women of Wrestling Episode 4.  Last week, the show went off the air with chaos and the ref down in the number 1 contender’s match between Jungle Grrrl and The Beast.

Fallout From Last Week’s Main Event

We get a recap of last week’s ending segment where Blanchard attacked Jungle Grrrl.  What we didn’t see was Blanchard getting the ref up and The Beast picking up the win.

We then get Blanchard in David McLane’s office.  Instead of agreeing to fight The Beast, she says she’ll face the next person through the door.

It was Reyna Reyes.  She claimed McLane wanted to see her, but it was Sophia Lopez.

Jungle Grrrl vs. Sassy Massy

This size vs. speed and experience vs. the newcomer.  Sassy Massy gets rolling early on until Grrrl counters with power into a back suplex.  Jungle Grrrl starts working her over.

Jungle Grrrl, working as a full on heel now, hits her finisher the big splash.  She hits another.  However that wasn’t enough.

Jungle Grrrl goes for a 3rd, but Chantilly Chella comes out.  Jungle Grrrl then takes her down. She goes for another splash on both ladies, but refs break it up.  The match ends in a no contest.

Match was entertaining.  Jungle Grrrl is working as a heel is interesting.  She cut a promo prior to the match.  I’m not sure that’s her strength.  It seems a bit forced.

However, she is effective as a powerful force in the ring for the faces to have to overcome.  Looks like she has moved out of the title picture for good.

Governer’s Daughter Abilene Maverick vs. Stephie Slays

Slays has been bullied by Abilene Maverick for months.  Maverick comes out in a neck brace and is ducking Slays.

The Disciplinarian with Samantha Smart comes out to take out Slays.  Maverick joins commentary.  After a real back and forth match with lots of distractions, The Disciplinarian picks up the win with a TKO.

Samantha Smart cuts a promo on the fans.  Calling them dumb.

I guess this continues Slays path towards getting her hands on Maverick.  Slays eventually needs to come out on top of this one.  Neither of these women seems to be someone WOW should be building around.

However, it’s a solid mid-card feud with a good back story.

The Monsters of Madness vs. The Dixie Darlings

The Dixie Darlings are making their debut on this season of WOW.  The Monsters of Madness are the heavy favorites in this match.

This match was a quick one.  The Monsters of Madness make quick work of the rookies.  They advance to the next round of the tag team series.

Quick match.  Effective to get over the Monsters of Madness.

However, if The Dixie Darlings have any talent, WOW would be smart to get behind them.  They’re twins and look to be athletic.  Sibling duos have really been excelling in the world of wrestling of late.

Tessa Blanchard Defends WOW World Championship vs. Reyna Reyes

This match was set up because Tessa Blanchard is ducking The Beast.  Tessa Blanchard is so good.  She really may be the best women’s wrestler in the world today.

The thing that makes her so great is she makes the other wrestler step up their game.  The two matches she’s had so far have been the best two matches on WOW this season by a mile.

Reyes was able to get her stuff in and show off her athletic ability.  Reyes hit sky twister to the outside and a modified version of the Spanish Fly.

Blanchard hits The Diamond DDT for the win.  After the match, Jungle Grrrl comes down and attacks Blanchard.

Final Take:

This was not one of the better shows this season.  There seemed to be a lot more talking and the matches weren’t as good as some of the other shows.

Blanchard vs. Reyes was really, really good.  Anytime Blanchard wrestles, it is totally worth tuning in for.

The story of the championship triangle between Beast, Jungle Grrrl, and Blanchard seems to be the back bone of this season.  However, it’s dragging on a bit.  WOW needs to pick a challenger and build to it.

Even though the show wasn’t my favorite of this season, it was still fun to watch.  The hour flies by.  Give it a shot.
